How can design and technology support people with dementia in communicating with others to counter general stigma in societal views on dementia.?
Description
People who have dementia may have trouble communicating, particularly when it comes to word-finding, remembering information, maintaining a conversation, and understanding what others are saying. However, communication is essential for effective care, connection to loved ones, and a sense of self-worth. The project ‘Dementia and Communication’ investigates how design and technology might enhance communication between individuals with dementia and others. This specific project will focus on how societal views about dementia determine how we support people with dementia and how we can counter stigma and break through this existing negative image.
